OMCS (Offshore Marine) Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

In 1996, Tiger Woods turned professional and changed the golfing world. 1996 was also the start of a change in the way electrical cable and accessories were sold to the oil and gas industry. Even though Offshore Marine officially opened at the end of 1995, our “grand opening” occurred on February 15, 1996 – complete with a catfish cookout and plenty of cold beer. That day everyone marveled at how much warehouse space we had.

From that original location in Southeast Houston, Offshore Marine set the industry standard for friendly service, fast order processing and quick shipping. Through good and not-so-good energy markets, OMCS continually expanded its products and services to meet changing customer requirements. In 1999, the creation of our in-house cable assembly department met the growing demand for complex, ready-to-use cable assemblies for oil and gas applications and portable power generation. Not long after that, everyone stood in the warehouse and marveled at how little warehouse space we had.

In 2004, we moved to our current Bondeson Business Park location in Northwest Houston. With a much larger facility, Offshore Marine has greatly expanded its inventory levels and cable assembly department ­– now officially known as AmerCable Systems. Our state-of-the art material handling system lets us same-day ship most orders and maintain the fastest urgent order response rate in the industry.

In addition to selling the complete family of AmerCable GexolÆ Oil & Gas electrical cables, Offshore Marine also supplies Amphenol connectors (including fiber optic), Burndy lugs and connectors, Hawke glands, transits, enclosures and junction boxes, and Redapt adapter threads. In fact, Offshore Marine is one of the largest stocking distributors of Hawke products in the world.
